SIR (Standard Edition) is now available, in a soft cover, presenting a classic version of Mario’s decade-spanning catalogue of male portraits.

While viewing male style, roles and appearances with trademark glamour and humour, Mario explores masculinity in all its guises – military men, Hollywood stars, icons of sport. With an essay by Pierre Borhan and an interview by Patrick Kinmonth, SIR features the likes of Mick Jagger, Hamish Bowles and George Clooney, skewing convention and self-image.

SIR explores the spectrum of masculinity, from Rio to Cusco, London to New York, with men jostling for attention as objects of desire – both defiant and vulnerable. Mario examines the changing faces of masculinity, the dandy and the gentleman, the macho and the fey, but, as Pierre Borhan states, “each a sir, thoroughly sir, from head to toe.”

SIR (Limited Edition) was unveiled in 2015 as a collectable item, with 1,000 copies available, each signed by Mario Testino and bound in Japanese cloth. Both editions are available to purchase here.
